Getting Started
Feel free to pop down to the gym and speak to one of our trainers about getting started! It’s pretty straightforward! If you have never done CrossFit before, we ask that everyone completes our fundamentals course before coming to a class. This will give you an understanding of the CrossFit methodology as well as being taught the fundamental movements. There are three options for taking the fundamentals course. - Group course (up to 16 people), Small group course (up to 4 people) and one-to-one. Please see below for details and costs.
Mechanics
The first, and most important component of beginning CrossFit – making sure you can move safely and correctly through our fundamental movements.Consistency
Consistently executing good movement mechanics over time will allow you to train better, and more often… we cannot emphasise enough that sound technique is the most efficient and effective road to better fitness.Intensity
Intensity brings about results. More work in less time means higher average power output which in turn means higher intensity. Higher intensity means better results. Therefore, proper mechanics are the ideal supports for the bridge to fitness.Got questions?
We are always happy to answer them.Fundamentals Packs
At present we have a small waitlist for completing ALL types of fundamentals course - please email us at info@crossfitaberdeen.com to register your interest and perhaps let us know your availability for taking the course
Group courses (four sessions) are run sporadically throughout the year, there are no ‘set dates’ for the course. Please enquire directly to find out if there is a course running soon. Smaller group courses are run over a two-day period, most likely a Saturday and Sunday, two 2-hour sessions. Our one-to-one course (three sessions) is run usually on week nights (Mon, Tue, Wed or Thurs) from 20:15 - 21:45.
The aim of the fundamentals course is to familiarise you with techniques and movement standards for the main movements practiced. We teach you how to move safely, consistently. The sessions will cover The Squat Series – air squat, front squat and overhead squat, The Press Series – shoulder press, push press and push jerk and The Pulling Series – deadlift, sumo deadlift high pull and medicine ball clean. We also cover an introduction to Olympic lifting. Each session covers some auxiliary movements and includes a workout at the end. All teaching is done with PVC pipe – no load. You then have access to try a free workout class before deciding on membership.
